Favorite Christmas Traditions: Fa-ra-ra-ra dinner at a Chinese Restaurant

A favorite family tradition, and one that always shows up on our Christmas Chain (see earlier posting) is "Fa-ra-ra-ra-ra" - eating out at a Chinese Restaurant.  This activity is based on the classic scene in the seasonal movie classic, "A Christmas Story" when the family's turkey is eaten by the neighbor's pack of hounds and they go out to eat.

This is "Fong's Restaurant" on main street in Rexburg, Idaho.  It's one of our favorite stops for this event.

You can watch the classic Chinese Restaurant scene from "A Christmas Story" by clicking the link below:

We enjoy sliding a booth or sitting around a table and taking in the ambiance.  All Chinese restaurants have their own particular brand of atmosphere....and we then enjoy a nice dinner of Chinese food.

Here is Emily posing with a bit of Fong's Restaurant's holiday atmosphere...an artificial cherry tree in blossom decorated with multi-colored Christmas tree lights.  Man, I wish I'd taken a photo of the metal statuette of a frog sitting atop a pile of coins that was also there.  Now THAT'S atmosphere!

I have to admit that we have never had roast duck...my personal preference is Mandarin Chicken with  fried rice.  Plus you get to learn your fortune - always a treat!

Merry Christmas!
